Nambé Twist 10-Inch Cocktail ShakerInvite the gang over and let the modern, tear-drop-shaped Twist Cocktail Shaker be the life of the party. Like the rest of the beautiful Twist family, the shaker takes it design cues from the spectacularly curving facets of a helix. And because the shaker is made of thermal-retentive Nambé metal, it should be chilled before mixing up 500ml of your favorite concoction ¿ the cold will transfer to the liquid, and your bartending prowess will go a very long way. An integrated removable strainer makes this piece oh-so-easy to use ¿ often. This stunning Twist cocktail shaker was designed for Nambé by Fred Bould, whose creations interweave his love of water, motion, and the spiraling helix shape. The twisted, sculpted sides of the shaker increase the ease of handling the shaker when moist, and beautifully flow into the pointed, cone-shaped top. Made of sand-cast metal and polished to a bright mirror finish, the shaker retains cold remarkably well and can be thoroughly chilled in a freezer before filling with martini ingredients. A thin black rubber ring is integral in the lid and in the removable strainer, to make the press fit nice and snug. With a 16-ounce capacity and height of 10 inches, the shaker comes gift-boxed and ready to impress a favorite cocktail maker. Nambé was founded in 1951 in a village of the same name in scenic northern New Mexico. From the beginning, the company focused on hand-producing high-quality, functional items such as metal bowls and trays with great attention to timeless, modern design. Still made in the USA, Nambé's signature metal alloy is liquefied, poured into a hand-made sand cast, and the resulting piece repeatedly polished and smoothed by hand. Exceptional gifts for the most special of occasions, Nambé metal bowls and accessories are now joined by porcelain and crystal pieces, each flawlessly crafted. Nambé ware has won numerous design awards, has been shown in or recognized by nearly two dozen museums worldwide, and is part of the permanent collections of many, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York. --Ann Bieri
